In a major effort to relieve middle-class families of the escalating financial burden of expensive private coaching institutes, the Ministry of Education has initiated work on a massive, nationwide free online coaching platform. Prompted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day announcement, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi recently held a high-level meeting with ministry officials to finalize the strategic roadmap for this ambitious digital learning network.
Core Features of the Digital Coaching Network
Massive Scale & Infrastructure: Unlike the existing 'SATHEE' portal—developed in partnership with IIT Kanpur, which currently serves 20 lakh registered students—this upcoming interactive platform will be engineered to simultaneously handle over 1 crore (10 million) aspirants nationwide.
Extensive Reach via CSCs: The network will directly connect secondary schools and colleges up to Class 12, while leveraging local Common Service Centers (CSCs) to guarantee high-speed access across rural and semi-urban belts.
Phase-Wise Exam Expansion: The initial rollout will cater specifically to engineering (JEE) and medical (NEET-UG) entrance examinations, with plans to systematically integrate SSC, UPSC, and other national competitive tests in subsequent phases.
24/7 Interactive Learning: Designed to match the features of commercial coaching brands, the portal will offer round-the-clock academic assistance, real-time doubt resolution, and dynamic virtual lectures.
Top-Tier Educator Onboarding: The ministry is actively identifying premier faculty across academic institutions while collaborating with private-sector experts to maintain high-quality pedagogy and learning content.
Timed for Maximum Impact
Targeting a rollout within the coming weeks, the government aims to deploy the platform in time to assist students preparing for the upcoming JEE Main exam cycles, bringing quality test preparation directly to every household across India.
