Operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Coal, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL)—a premier subsidiary of Coal India Limited based in Singrauli—has anchored itself as a driver of sustainable and inclusive development across the Singrauli, Sonbhadra, and adjoining regions. Over the past twelve years, the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) footprint has grown exponentially. In Financial Year 2013-14, NCL’s annual CSR expenditure stood at ₹39 crore; by FY 2025-26, this figure surged to ₹146 crore. With a cumulative investment of ₹1,370 crore dedicated to regional social welfare over this period, NCL has directly enriched the lives of nearly 10 lakh people.

Healthcare & Life-Saving Interventions: Under the Nanha-Sa-Dil-NCL project, over 38,000 children were screened for Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), resulting in 240 free life-saving cardiac surgeries. Additionally, the Charak initiative finances complex treatments (such as organ transplants and oncology) for impoverished families.
Empowering Persons with Disabilities: The District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) provides speech therapy, physiotherapy, prosthetics, and counseling to roughly 2,000 individuals annually across Singrauli (MP), Sonbhadra (UP), and Surajpur (Chhattisgarh).
